What’s in a name (tag)?

Er… a name usually, a job title, a company… Something you wouldn’t cast more than a quick glance on, unless on these occasions that you insist on knowing the name of the person you’re complaining to, or if the wearer’s chest area is of particular interest to you… With this mini media player though, there can be much more in a name tag to catch a wandering eye and make for a perfect conversation opener.

“That looks neat, where did you get that?” It’s one reaction you’re likely to get when wearing this... at a trade fair, let’s say. After all, this media player name tag is still something of a novelty. You can nod in reply and smile complacently about the excellent first impression your company has made as being hip and trendy, in-the-know, innovative in more than one way, etc...

Okay, maybe we got a bit carried away there, but if you know your way with words, you can channel the interest in your gizmo to interest in what you have to say/sell. Better still, your name tag can actually contain visuals or keywords of what you have to say/sell. And that’s where it appeals to our business-like and down-to-earth nature.

Specifications

But enough about the effects it might achieve, what can this baby do? The words “media player” already give it away: it’s a wearable 2.4 inch OLED screen with 1GB of internal memory which can display images, video and computer animation. You’ll have to take care of the accompanying audio yourself, though.

The advantages of the OLED screen are its bright display of images and video, even in a light environment, its wide 180 degree viewing angle, and its lower energy consumption. The rechargeable Lithium-ion battery will power the player for about 8 hours.

Your visuals

You simply connect the device to your computer via a mini USB interface and then copy your folders and files onto it as you would on any other external memory drive. By the press of a button on the side of the player, you can switch between folders to display information on another product, for example.

But why has this caught our eye? Okay, “boys and new toys”... we admit that’s part of the motivation. I personally see untapped potential in the speed dating business... or mood animations as the live equivalent of smileys? An animated do-not-disturb message you carry around with you everywhere you go?

King content

I could go on like that for a while, but the real appeal is that this media player tag fits us like a glove. We’ve built up quite some experience in developing appealing content for digital signage and feel this baby brother deserves equally royal content as its big screen brother... After all, a shoddy logo animation or poorly filmed product video is likely to cause the exact opposite reaction to what you are out to achieve.

Anyway, feel free to contact us to talk about the pros and cons. We are more than happy to advise.
